Power to Your People

In May 2023, twelve employees from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) were preparing to present strategic recommendations to executives at an event designed to enhance departmental processes. The team, comprising Project Officers, Research Horticulturalists, R&D Policy Directors, and IT support officers to name a few, faced the challenge of conveying their recommendations effectively to secure continued funding for their projects. The employees, dispersed across Queensland, had varying levels of presenting and pitching experience.

FROM PRESENTING TO PITCHING

Redsuit’s ‘getting to clarity’ process identified that the DAF team were presenting information, rather than pitching a process of transformation. To make the transition from presenters to pitchers, the DAF team attended Pitch Camp.

BUILDING CAPACITY

The DAF Pitch Camp comprised three tailored strategic pitching workshops with a focus  on:

  • Pitching Mindset

  • Pitch / Pitch Deck Structure

  • Persuasive Messaging

  • Controlling the Pitch Environment

The workshops included live pitch practise, real-time feedback and one-on-one sessions, creating a collaborative learning environment that addressed each participant’s specific needs.

DAF's Happy Campers...

  • Brenda

“Pitch Camp is one of my best professional development experiences EVER! The structure unlocked my scrambled thinking, provided a logical flow that took the stress out of pitching, and gave me confidence that I’ll get my message across for a great audience experience. Thanks, Pete!!!”

  • David

“Pitch Camp is amazing, turning presentations into pitches with great tools, practical application, and constructive feedback all the way through. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to improve how they present their thoughts, ideas, or pitches.”

  • Cheryl

“Pitch Camp turned my way of thinking about public speaking upside down. I attended Pitch Camp through my place of work. The workshop delivery by Peter Cunningham, supported by Rosie Gundelach, was via videoconferencing, with materials supplied by email. It was extremely well-organized. I learned a great deal in a short time, and the addition of optional coaching was also very valuable for me. Peter is a word and pitch expert who is generous with his knowledge, and he helped me cut through a whole lot of white noise to get to a concise message. I highly recommend.”

  • Renee

“Public speaking has never been my forte, but Pitch Camp equipped me with the skills and confidence I need to do killer pitches every time. Pete gives you the tools you need and a fail-proof structure to help engage your audience and drive home key messaging. Pete is very generous with his knowledge and genuinely cares about his 'students.' His feedback and advice were invaluable. Five stars!!”

  • Quentin

“Great workshop to help facilitate changing the mentality of presenting to pitching and provide you with the tools to pitch effectively.”

  • Katie

“Thanks Pete for creating such an excellent training program. I now feel much more capable and have a lot more confidence in structuring and delivering a pitch!”
